Three bat species feed solely on blood: thecommon vampire bat (Desmodus rotundus), the hairy-legged vampire bat (Diphylla ecaudata), and the white-winged vampire bat(Diaemus youngi). All three species are native to the New World, ranging from Mexico to BrazilChile, and Argentina.
